正位牌义
Triumph, the excessive degree in everything, conquest, triumph of force. It is a card of great force, in love as well as in hatred. The crown may carry a much higher significance than comes usually within the sphere of fortune-telling.
逆位牌义
The same, but the results are disastrous; another account says--conception, childbirth, augmentation, multiplicity.
这张牌在做什么
It represents the birth of clear thought: insight that separates truth from noise. It appears at a breakthrough that can wound as it frees. The crown marks a meaning above mere strife.
文化与传统的读法
In the traditional reading the Ace is triumph and the excess of everything. It has long been read as conquest in love and hate, and by reversal as disastrous results or childbirth. The sword cuts; what it severs needed severing.
